Verbatim 16x DVDs Receive Top Buy Award from Australia?s No. 1 Technology Magazine

A comprehensive test by Australian PC User magazine of over 10 different optical media brands has concluded that Verbatim DVD’s offer the best quality, reliability and overall value for money. Verbatim scored a massive 9.5 out of a possible 10 for their latest range of 16x DVD+R media and was awarded PC User’s Top Buy Award (May 2006 issue).

The testing process involved burning data to the discs at the maximum allowable speed in two of the best, most popular burners on the market. Once completed, the discs were run through an error-detection program, KProbe. Results were collated and compared to the European Computer Manufacturers Association (ECMA) standards which indicate whether a disc can be considered of reasonable quality. Reported error patterns included Maximum PI error peak, Maximum PIF error peak, Total PI errors and Total PIF errors. Other performance results included rated versus actual burn speed. Verbatim DVDs performed exceptionally in all cases.

In listing Verbatim as number one, journalist Darren Yates wrote, “Our testing over the past year has shown Verbatim DVD+R media is a class above the rest. This is the third time we’ve tested them and they performed brilliantly.” His conclusion stated, “If you’re looking for the best-quality media for archiving, go for Verbatim DVD+R media. At 72c each, they’re good value too.”
